What is damaged hair?

Damaged Hair

We often catch ourselves looks at our split ends and worrying about the shine and healthy look of our hair

Your hair can feel damaged due to many factors; some of these are heated styling tools, and pollution in the hair. We have also seen the trend in long hair being embraced by many women, which can lead to tired looking hair ends.

To care for damaged hair it is important to understand why we see this and which level of damage we might have. Our hairdressers can help you diagnose your damaged hair level using our Hair Fibre Test. Looking at a few strands an assessment can be made. Does your hair break easily when pulled? Can you see visible split ends and what is your natural hair thickness?

To treat damaged hair your hairdresser can prescribe Pro Fiber, which has been designed to help all damaged hair after a thorough consultation has taken place.

Pro Fiber Revive

With this level of damage hair scales are jagged, with some of them lifted or broken; but the hairs internal cortex is not yet fully exposed. The hair is slightly dry with less shine, duller colour and thinner ends.

To renew the appearance of hair with level 1 damage, hairdressers would recommend the Pro Fiber Revive programme for a revived healthy look of your hair.

Pro Fiber Restore

Level 2 hair damage sees cuticle abrasion which means that the external layer is scraped off and the internal cortex could be unprotected and vulnerable to damage in some areas of the hair fibre.

At this hair damage level the number of cuticle layers decreases, with a large number of scales jagged and lifted and a possibly exposed cortex. Hair at this level will have a rough texture, with a dull appearance, an uneven colour and split ends.

To renew the appearance of hair with level 2 damage, hairdressers would recommend the Pro Fiber Restore programme to restore the smooth and silky feeling to your hair.

ProFiber Reconstruct Ambiance Image

This is the highest level of hair damage. The cuticle is very damaged, with parts of it withered away completely. The cortex is exposed and can be weakened. At this level the hairs surface texture is very rough and deconstructed with no shine, faded colour and split ends.

To renew the appearance of hair with level 3 damage, hairdressers would recommend the Pro Fiber Recover programme to recover a stronger feel to your hair.
