WHAT IS PASTELAGE?
Quite simply, PASTELAGE is the new Balayage.
While Balayage has been en-vogue for a number of years now and sported by women across the globe, the trend has now evolved. The introduction of vibrant, bright and bold professional colour shades has led to an increase in the number of women requesting PASTELAGE.
PASTELAGE is a combination of pastel tones applied to the hair using a professional balayage technique, and is made possible using L’Oréal Professionnel’s NEW #COLORFULHAIR semi-permanent in-salon colour palette.
The #COLORFULHAIR range features seven intermixable vibrant shades and one Crystal Clear enabling the colourist to create soft pastel tones across a variety of exciting colours. PASTELAGE can only be achieved in-salon by your colourist, using the traditional balayage technique.
WHAT IS THE PROFESSIONAL DIFFERENCE?
PASTELAGE is available in salon and will be applied by a professional colourist, following a consultation to understand what will work best for you.
L’Oreal Professionnel Colour Ambassador Jack Howard comments:
“We are seeing more and more women come into the salon asking for more vibrant and colorful shades; and with the new #COLORFULHAIR range you can easily incorporate pastel tones through the lengths of the hair. It is semi-permanent so is a low commitment option that appeals to all ages.”
HAS CRAZY COLOUR BECOME THE NEW NORM?
The world of colour is constantly changing. In the last year, the use of bold, vibrant and bright colours has become apparent. Crazy hair colour has become the new norm. Celebrities, influencers and women of all ages are becoming more experimental when it comes to the shades that they request in salon.
The versatility of PASTELAGE and the fact that it is so low-commital has resulted in it transcending age stereotypes. You don’t need to have anything ‘crazy’ when requesting PASTELAGE in salon. Want gentle pink tones throughout your ends that washes out after a few shampoos? That is possible. You needn’t have the dramatic colour change that is associated with the punk era.
“Women feel liberated and this comes across not only in lifestyle choices but the way that they are wearing their hair and the colours that they incorporate into their look,” - L’Oreal Professionel editorial ambassador, Adam Reed.
And it’s not just teenagers and women in their early twenties asking for bolder, more vibrant shades. Research shows that 25% of women up to the age of 40 been requesting brighter and more bold shades in their colour service*.
